Sobrevida a los cinco años en pacientes operados de neoplasia maligna de colon y recto

Resumen


Fundamento: Los cánceres colorrectales comprenden todos aquellos cánceres situados en el intestino grueso, el cual anatómicamente se divide en colon y recto. Especialmente los de tipo epitelial, representan en la actualidad un gran problema de salud y causa importante de mortalidad en todo el mundo.
Objetivo
: evaluar la sobrevida a los cinco años en pacientes operados de cáncer colorrectal.
Métodos
: estudio descriptivo ambiespectivo, de 108 pacientes operados de cáncer colorrectal en el Hospital Dr. Gustavo Aldereguía Lima de Cienfuegos, durante un período de 2 años (2004-2005). Las variables estudiadas: edad, sexo, localización del tumor, diferenciación histológica, etapas clínicas del tumor, técnica quirúrgica empleada, uso de la quimioterapia y supervivencia a los 5 años.
Resultados
: a supervivencia global fue de un 66,7 % a los 5 años, y las etapas I y IIb fueron las de mayor sobrevida, con un 81 a 77 %. En general predominó el sexo femenino (59,2 %) sobre el masculino (40,7 %), y se observó mejor sobrevida durante todo el período en las mujeres: 70 % sobre un 62 % en los hombres.
Conclusiones: la sobrevida global de la serie a los cinco años reportó cifras superiores a las obtenidas en Estados Unidos, Europa y la propia provincia de Cienfuegos en años anteriores, siendo el recto la localización más frecuente, además de manifestar la mejor sobrevida acumulada 72 % a los 5 años.
